How to Get White Teeth, and KEEP Them White!
I started being conscious of my teeth, just before I was about to go on The Bachelor, because there’s nothing quite like knowing that your whole face is about to fill peoples’ TV screens, in HD, warts and all. My teeth were naturally pretty good, but they had gradually become a little bit yellower over the years (I guess that’s from coffee, and wine according to those little dancing coffee cups and wine glasses from the ads), and it had started to play on my mind a bit.
I got them whitened at a dentist, which did make my teeth whiter, but it actually bloody hurt! There were 3 x 15 minute rounds, and I couldn’t get through the last one, the pain was that bad. That was enough to keep them white for a few months, but after I went back to my old habits of black coffee erryday, they started to fade. I didn’t want to sit through the pain of getting them whitened again, so I turned to the “Instagram trend” of brushing with charcoal, but then discovered (after some extensive research i.e. googling) how charcoal can ruin the enamel on your teeth… I just couldn’t win! I tried Colgate Optic White toothpaste because I was drawn in by the whitening claims and thought I would give it a go for myself. I haven’t looked back since! I love that it’s affordable (you can just grab it from the supermarket), and gives long term, sustained results. Since I’ve been using it for years, you can imagine I was STOKED when I came on board with Colgate as their Optic White ambassador. A match made in heaven.
There seems to be a bit of a stigma that wanting white teeth is “vein” or “fake”, but I don’t think that’s right at all. There is absolutely nothing to be embarrassed about for wanting white teeth. It makes SUCH a difference to our confidence levels, and anything that increases our self-confidence tends to have flow on effects to lots of different avenues in life, and that’s perfectly acceptable in my book!
Having beautiful white teeth used to be associated with movie stars and rich people, but I feel like it’s more accessible for everyone these days. Colgate recently came out with Optic White Brush and Pen, and it’s literally all I need to keep my teeth nice and white now. It’s SO simple to use. Here’s a quick how-to video below, so you don’t have to take my word for it.
Now go forth, and enjoy those pearly whites!
