Updating My Living Room with Freedom!
Can I get a show of hands of who else loves a bit of #homeinspo?! The extent of my interior design knowledge is basically scrolling through Pinterest wishing I had 20 million dollars (that's the monetary value I’ve put on my dream house inclusive of furniture etc by the way). I like to think I’ve got a reasonable eye for nice things. Like I have AN eye, but I unfortunately don’t have THE eye. That kind of vision that only certain people have for interior design. That’s why when I had the urge to update my living room, I knew I had to bring in the big guns… the professionals. Below is a “before” picture of my living room… Behold the big reveal!
I had heard about Freedom Furniture’s Interior Design Service a while ago from a friend, so finally decided to give it a go. My living room was in dire need of an upgrade. For example, I bought my current sofa off TradeMe for $300 literally 5 years ago, and let me tell you, it has been through the ringer. It started off in my old flat with two of my best friends, and survived multiple parties, drinks spilt on it, dirty boots, and the rest. That bad boy needed to go. The first step in the whole process was an in-home consultation with the Freedom team. The fabulous Stefan came over to get a brief from me, and get a feel for my home, and the current style. He was so lovely, and incredibly easy to deal with. He made it fun!
After the initial consultation, my new bestie Stefan emailed me a few mock ups of what his “vision” of the new lounge room would look like, and I loved them! Everything was right on my style, and he had really listened to the brief. I live in a tiiiiiny apartment, so storage is a serious issue for me. For some reason they decided to build my complex with no cupboards. Literally a tiny pantry and a miniscule wardrobe, but not one other place to put stuff?! It does my head in. But I’m getting distracted… Stefan had thought of really cool ways to store all of our stuff (and we have a LOT of stuff), as seen in Exhibit A:
The next step was to head in to the store, and have a nosey with Stefan at what I loved/hated, and if there was anything that really grabbed me (like the chair above, argh I’m obsessed with this velvety beauty). I picked out a few things here and there, but there was nothing majorly different to the mood board Stefan had already sent through. Once all that was out of the way, it was time for DELIVERY! They delivered at 8am a couple of days later, and I was actually a little kid at Christmas time. We unpacked everything and set it up, and everything fit perfectly. I couldn’t be happier!
Check out the "after" photos below… What do you think?! If you’re considering re-doing any area of your house (or the whole thing), and if you’re like me and can’t be bothered doing it yourself, then get Stefan/Freedom on the case. You won’t regret it!
