Hi there!

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food.

Updating the Guest Room and Introducing Our New Fur Babies!

Updating the Guest Room and Introducing Our New Fur Babies!

OK so, I haven't updated my blog in a couple of months, mainly because my busy-ness has been off the richter scale, AND I've been cleaning poo and vomit off the carpet (no that's not from Art), it's from our new cats!  We've been thinking of adopting a cat for a while, when my friend sent me a screenshot of these two BEAUTIFUL cats up for adoption on the Lonely Miaow website called Tommy and Cocoa, and I instantly fell in love.  I rang the number straight away and we went to go and meet them.  Cocoa looked at us with her wee cross eyed face and we knew they were ours!  Since they were brother and sister, we couldn't really split them up, so we ended up adopting them both.  Tommy and Cocoa are great cat names (all be it a bit safe), so we decided to rename them to Brian and Christine ha.  They're yet to respond to the names, but I'm trying to be patient!  Also if anyone else has ragdolls and has any tips on how the hell to stop ALL OF THE hair, that would be very much appreciated.  Here they are in all their glory:

Anyway, enough about the cats.  I fear I may be turning in to a crazy cat lady!  Since we've moved in to our new place (still renting, I WISH we could afford to buy a house in Auckland), we've got way more space than our previous house.  We were living in a tiny apartment which was great at first, but we quickly outgrew it.  I have no idea why they make apartments so tiny and with no bloody storage space?!  Very annoying.  So now we've moved to a 2.5 bedroom house which means I can work from home, and actually have an office rather than my living room.  It also has a spare bedroom which is great for when we have friends or family to stay and they can have their own room rather than bunked on the couch like we previously had.  Plus I feel like I'm really adulting when I say "I'll set up the guest room for you".  Maybe that's just me....  We'e been in our place two months, and I had every intention to make it look really pretty as soon as we moved in, so it quickly became "the junk room".  Does anyone else do that?  As soon as they have more space, seem to fill it up with random stuff??  So, on labour weekend I decided to sink my teeth in to it, and make it pretty.

I got this gorgeee bed linen from Logan & Mason online a while ago, and have finally got around to setting it up!  I love classic styles, so I went for the Essex Stone style, which you can find here.  It looks SO good, I'm kind of tempted to make it our room instead of the guest one.  Here's a wee before and after so you can see what a difference some beautiful linen can make!

So pretty right?!  I also got the Willow White throw that you can see on the end of the bed.  I tried to go for the "dishevelled" way of using the throw...  Not sure if I pulled it off or not?!

Anyway, I know our living room just recently went through a makeover at our old apartment, but it's going to need another one..  At least that's what I'm trying to convince Art.  So watch this space...
